National Juries and Awards

Working Group

(NJAWG)

We are a group of organizations that administer literary and book awards across Canada,

ranging from national awards to genre-specific or subject-specific, provincial, and city awards.

Our Story

NJAWG Group Photo.jpg

The National Juries and Awards Working Group began in 2021 to respond to an interest in developing fairer, more inclusive and equitable jurying, and we still do a variety of informational activities focused on that. We also do various kinds of professional development, resource sharing, and mutual support.

We typically meet on Zoom four or five times a year, and once in a while we meet in person. Our members also call on each other in between meetings for advice and support, and to disseminate calls for submissions or for jurors. If you are a member of a literary, book, or allied awards-giving organization and would like to join us, please send us a note.

On this site you’ll also find a listing of our members and the awards they administer, as well as our past and upcoming events.

NJAWG’s coordinators are:

Linda Hudson, Writers’ Federation of Nova Scotia

Elise Moser

Lori Schubert, Quebec Writers’ Federation
